K100 ignition coil wires go where?

The green/yellow are the common wires and connect to the inner terminals on both coils. The blue/black goes to the outer terminal of coil 1 and 4 and the red/black wire goes to the outer terminal of coil 2 and 3.

I'm hooking up some "new" orange tower Bosch coils to my 1985 K100RT and had this same question. To simplify things (the outer/inner part confused me), the blue/black connects to the negative terminal of the 1/4 coil and the red/black wire connects to the negative terminal of the 2/3 coil. The green/yellow wires connect to the positive terminals.

I used the terms inner and outer because the original poster Boxermann used them. You are correct though regarding the polarity of the terminals. After cleaning a few decades of road grunge from the coils I can see that the green/yellow wires connect to the positive terminals.  :2thumbup:

I figured you were using his terminology to help him. I wasn’t meaning to critique your help. I find it curious that though we humans share so many common traits, our internal wiring differs just enough to ensure that we all view things slightly differently. My wife is a teacher and she has to have multiple approaches to teach the same concept because their is no one-size-fits-all approach.

One difference that I didn’t bring up, between the orange tower coils and the solid black ones is that the orange tower coils only have two spade terminals per coil whereas the black coils have three. Does the newer coil do away with a shared ground wire? I’m just guessing that is what the orange wire is as the K is at home and my photos don’t show what the orange wires connect to.

I think the brown wire that grounds the iron core of the coils is the only connection that would be optional.
I'm curious about your orange tower coils. Could you attach a photo? Do they fit under the cover? My stockers have 170,000 Kms on them and I would probably benefit from replacing them.

The ground terminal for the core can be seen on the pictures in the other thread you have linked to.
It's on the opposite side on the rivet for the cover mounting bracket.

are a very different animal......and have different connectors on low tension side.
