Is there any way to reduce the brake pedal travel on my bike? Sure have to push it a long way until it grabs.

Yes, but why?

It's not a Harley.
Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

There is a bolt between the pedal and the master cylinder. You can tighten it up a bit, but you want some dead zone. The rear brakes can be vague, so it is good to have some more travel.

Even loosely adjusted it isn't that hard to lock up a rear disc on a K bike. Why anyone would want to make it more tightly adjusted is beyond me. :dunno2:

It's also helpful to have some play in there to illuminate your brake light when you're slowing without really braking.

If you're using your rear brake as your primary brake then you're doing it wrong.

And be careful about getting it too tight.  If you do then the piston can get stuck on the set screw in the master cylinder.
