« on: May 28, 2017, 09:02:19 PM »
Is there a heat treat on the swing arm? What alloy is it? i want to weld something to it and wanted to know if that would get rid of any heat treat that was on it. Thank you

If you give us a picture of where and what you want to weld on to it, it would be helpful.  :dunno

I want to weld an aluminum flange to hold a suspension piece onto the pint where the socket is. Any ideas on how to move the shock to where the battery is would be muchly apreciated as well.

If you intend for it to support a mount for a shock absorber it would definitely break. Take a look at where the OEM shock is mounted and compare. There is no comparison.  :nono  Maybe if you explain fully what you are tying to do and why, one of the inmates may come up with something. If moving the shock into a horizontal position is your intention it can and has been done but at great expense, and a lot of math and engineering is involved.

I eant to put a flange and a rocker at that point and have a shock and rod go to to where the joint is in the frame. I will put a stiffer spring and shock to compensate for the loss of leverage. I just wanted to know if the awing arm was hardened or not.

There was a post on a K100 with custom rear suspension. If I find it I'll post it.
