How sad is this the cost of haveing 2 tires mounted and ballanced $80. A tire change over for a ford f150 4 tires $60.

I take mine too my auto tire guy. His machine doesn't ever touch my wheels and so far, no charge. I drop them off and they're sitting out front when I stop back by. Then I balance myself. I have bought lots of truck and car tires from him. :2thumbup:

In my younger years I was able to do tires at the garage I worked at. Got to love mud season scraped down the drive way to make a clear path for the pavement. She is all set to go, clean with a fresh coat of wax.

Today was great did a small jaunt of 260 miles. It got hot tawards the end had to hidrate when I got home. Some of the roads are still prity dirty, lots of dust on the pants.

So the weekend started out great until my ride home today from work. One of my front break callipers came of just a quarter mile from my house. lucky that I was not 200 mile away like I was on Sunday. I am sure it was a mistake that I made putting on the front wheel from a tire change over. Can any one suggest a place besides Flea Bay for parts.

Thanks Johny, looks like all I need is a little cosmetic work like front wheel and paint the caliper. Again it was my mistake that it came off the first place. I thought after 20 years of wrenching on motor bikes I would learn to recheck my work :laugh.

So what a adventurous weekend I had. Removed the radio and top fairing to grease the wind screen rails. Also fitted a johney blanket under seat and tank and be very interested to see if it helps with the heat problem. Been waiting for good weather to visit an old friend in NH, last two weekends have been fairing very well and now Ester. I have a feeling that there is going to be more snow on its way :dunno.

YUP I was right winter is back. It's 7am and the snow if flying and the brick is under cover once again. Next weekend the local BMW shop is having an open house with the BMW stunt rider making a appearance. With the cold weather being back and some snow this gives me time to work on the utility trailer and to decide how I want to mount a GPS to old girl. I would love to see some photos on how others have there mounted.

Today was one of those days rode to work didn't get wet. Rode at noon 20 mile away didn't get wet, rode to the local BMW dealer still dry. On the way home yup got wet, oh well I am home. The local dealer in Essex Jct, Vt is having an open house so I volinteerd my time to them. Looks like good weather is on the way has rained at the house for 2 day's non stop witch is ok with me.

well it's been a while since last post. I screwed up big time last summer while replacing the front brake pads, I forgot to tighten the calliper bolts and they fell out. Lucky for me I was only a mile away from the house. Messed up the front wheel and left hand side calliper and rear portion of the front fender. I'm glad the mistake was from me and not a dealer. Got new/used front wheel the fender is out to be painted new bolts are in place(LOCTITE). The only mistake I did make was dropped off the two wheels to the dealer to have the barrings and tire moved over to the new. Today still not done :dunno. Looks like I will be tool shopping and learning to balance wheels. I should know by now that to recheck my work. As a teenager restoring motorcycles in dads garage instinck should take over.

That's a bummer! I use Roadside Marine for tire swaps. Drop off in morning and pickup that afternoon. I am guessing they could swap your bearings as well.

I should have gotten off my duff and dropped it off there, I work only 5 mile from them. I had them mount my new tires last summer and they were done the same day.

Got my front wheel back today and the KLT is back on the road just intime for rain, go figure. I was able to get it out for a test ride to the gas pump and back. Another good cleaning got done and now I am ready for the good weather.

Just turned 21k mile and she runs like new. Did some MODS tonight and check the air filter for the first time. I also had a great ride last Saturday, went to route 28 in New York where I met up with the Hudson river and got a chance to do some white water rafting. I would recomend this to every one. I did roughly 350 miles is all but worth every minute of them.

Ok it's been a while, Got 22,7k on the odometer. It has been very wet here in New England not much time to ride dry. The latest MOD installed a RAM mount on the bars for the Garmin NUVI, hard wired to the fuse panel. This is a great spot, if not useing as a GPS it make a easy reading road computer. I also purchase some Kevlar riding jeans with Bohn armor. This makes those wormer day's more barable. Gas prices just spiked again so it looks like time to rethink rain gear. The K has been running fantastic no burps or trouble at all, also I almost forgot installed front break adjustable leaver. To all keep on riding.
