It's still not a bad idea to check the chain and adjuster occasionally.(say @ 50K miles or so)The oil used to pressurize the adjusting mechanism also lubricates the nylon chain guide, and from time to time the 'lubrication passageway' will plug up and not lubricate the guide properly and cause pre-mature wear of the guide and thus the adjusting mechanism will limit out faster.
The only way to check it is to open the timing chain cover and look at it. There is no gasket other than rtv to seal it back up when installing the cover back on.
