Hi there
I have a new donor and new project is comming up in my mind. It is K100 1983 with only 63kkm. Need a kind of "outsourcing view" and piece of knowledge. My previous project (see attached pic) was pearl white, so now decided for black pearl, blasted engine etc. But want to do more sophisticated changes and need help:

1. Will enlarge drive shaft 5cm and that is no problem because I'm in touch with Graham who did it. Why? you see below
2. Will definitely do a exchaust and mufflers like R1100 S. I bought already final exchaust from Ducati 999 but it will be to large I guess so will need to cut it or reconsider another suggestions. That is why I do needed the space between swing arm and tire, so 5cm is just fine.
3. Want to change wheels for larger to me more similar to modern motorcycles, front and rear. And that creates the problems with front forks (up side down I guess) brake discs calipers etc. So need the advice how to approach to the problem. Project is scheduled for autumn but must collect all knowledge and stuff in meantime.
4. I do not like the round big head lamps like cafe racers. I'd like to use twin lamp but must be possibly small and powerful. So need sugestions. In my previous project I do use twin lamp from Ducati but looking now for something smaller.

All help in that matter, fresh view will be welcommed.

Maybe you can change the front end with GSXR/Hayabusa front end, I am trying to do it for my bike. Maybe you can use twin lamps from Triumph speed triple.

My former project was "polite" and the next must be more "sophisticated" if you know what I mean. In that case I may drop the idea of twin lamps, but did not decide yet. But like that power of light comming up from that lamp and is only 6 cm thin.

Regarding the HAyabusa front end, I was guesing about that (I do use in my former project left hayabusa switches with choke). But I'd like to have more information about that so some pics will be welcomed. Must count everything. Front end change is stricktly connected with wheel change, both of them and must reconsider thatb part as well.

For modern look, I like what these people do in this website, https://motofaction.org/motorcycles/honda-cx-gl/cx500-fork-swap-database, but definitely it will need a lot of money, for classic look I like what Cafe Twin do with their bikes, their web site: https://www.facebook.com/Cafe-Twin-45733284925/photos_stream?ref=page_internal, it looks like they are specialized in triumphs and bmw, and their paint design is incredible.

I was looking at some options for rear wheel replacement, you know the oem one does not look serious. I was wondering if someone try to use rear wheeel from K1200 rs?? It is my first guess that should fit but need to ask not to make mistakes. Or, if there is any whhels BMW wheels that may fit without any serius changes??

But, not that I'm affraid but decided to start up with project early Autumn this year. But, will have full season to do little changes and collect toys for modification. But, if the wheel fitment will not be that much complicated and costly I may reconsider to do it asap. Just yesterday did my brick run (was purchase not working withut fuel pump and broken splines on shaft) so now will ride and see what will come up. Clutch and both water and oil pump sealant will be for 100%, but that is easy. Final exchast from Ducati 999 is already in my garage, just could not resist buing...

Me to, me to but that projest will consis of all my deep thoughts that I allway want to have in motorcycle. Many other ideas are running thru my mind . Former project was to polite. Now, if you have any information about "our" K1200rs wheel let me know.

Mufler is already here...will need to find the solution how to cut it down to fit the place beneah the frame and seat.

I placed below text on k-100 forum but no reply from anyone, so maybe here a piece of mercy:

Since couple of days I'm trying to get to any conclusion regarding the rear wheel change for K1200. MY new/old brick is from 1983 so with monolever fited. Browsing few forums I got confused beacuse there is no definitivly described what is possible and what not.
On one post I read that 5 inch wheel and tire 160/... (instead of 5,5 inch and 170/....) will need only two small (2-3mm) spacers to fit the wheel. Than I see other post where someone says thatYES it is possible but with a huge modification.
So my post here is to clarify the situation by someone who did it with success.

So I am using avon 3d ultra 180/55, it touched the swingarm when I tightened the bolt, so in this case, I need additional shims, I used the standard one already. I thought it i did not touch in the beginning, you could see there is a gap between the tires and the edge of the swingarm when I installed it without tightening the bolts. I guess if you use 16 or 170 tire, it will fit fine.

I just install 170 tire and will need just one (shimp) spacer because tire is lightly touching the swing arm and squeezing. I guess one will fits fine.
BTW did you use 5 bolts to mount the wheel to finall drive or just 4 like previously?

Looks good Piot, Right now I only 4 bolts and I need to find another one, I already got 2 shims: 3 mm each and 1 original shim, we''ll see if it will fine.

I order new OEM shims to add to the existing ones. Where did you get your 3 mm shims? The oem is much thiner I guess?

Last time I bought it from someone in ebay, I bought the last 2 that he had, OEM partnumber: 36312312920. I believe the original is 2 mm.
