forum introduction
« on: November 24, 2015, 03:26:04 PM »
In my opinion the 90's K bikes are ICONIC in their design and technology. Rolling sculpture as apposed cruisers that look like rolling garage sales. After many hours of reading I decided to buy one. Upon seeing the bike my tumescence made asking penetrating questions difficult. I'm sure it had to do with the voluptuous shape, the red color and the dim lighting.  After 300 miles the drive broke which now with the onset of Winter gives me reason and opportunity to have the Beemer Barn do everything deemed necessary for a trouble free season next year. I'll do a report with pictures when I pick it up from the shop. It has been about 50 year since I've owned a motorcycle. My first and only was new Honda 750. Thanks to all the contributors for the cache of information on the forum.  Wanderingeye

Thank you Gio.  The first time I rode a hundred miles on this k1100 rs I gripped the handle bar ends so hard that at the end of the ride my hands were like lobster claws....I could hardly extend my fingers. The good news is that I moved on from catatonic fear to a high level of respect for power built into this bike on subsequent rides.

That red color is pretty hot looking.  I like the look of the 1100 fairing so much I converted my 100 RS to the 1100RS.  I agree that these bikes have a much cleaner, more solid look to them than newer touring machines.   Something about mine makes we think of a locomotive whenever I pass it in the garage; it just looks powerful sitting there.  I don't get that same impression from modern bikes.

Speaking of power, I am sure you will get to appreciate the way the K delivers through it's power band.   With a few thousand miles on her, you will finally become comfortable with the weight, handling and power band.  Then you'll really begin to understand why these bikes have such hard core devotees.

BTW, did you find your bike on Craig's List?  I know I saw one that looked like yours last summer for sale in the Southern Tier in Waverly or Tioga or somewhere around there.
