94 k75s upshift without clutch lever

Hello,

Returning from a ride yesterday noticed that my transmission upshifted without pulling the clutch lever....between 1-2, 2-3 when I was "pre-loading" the shifter.
I had not noticed this happening the last times I attempted "pre-loading" the lever ( for smoother shifting).

The lever has about 5 mm of freeplay before engaging.

Thanks for any advice.

Pre-loading?  Your lifting the shift lever without pulling the clutch?

Yes, just a little bit sometimes makes it smoother.

i often upshift and downshift without using the clutch... its a speed rpm thang...

Me too...I speed-match the rpms with the the target gear and shift. I do work the clutch some but it's just a formality, I don't think I squeeze hard enough to get much past the free play range.

Same here.  You really only need to squeeze the clutch to the friction zone, no more.  It shifts much smoother that way. 

As for the clutchless upshifts, I do it on occasion.  Load the shifter slightly, close the throttle just a smidgen, and it always snicks into next gear sooo smoothly.
