Odometer
« on: July 09, 2014, 10:38:00 AM »
On my 1994 K75, the speedometer and the tachometer works correctly, but the odometer and the trip meter is not turning during driving.  The reset knob is working correctly.  Could a wire be unplugged?  Possible fix?  I had the instrument panel rebuilt last year with new plastic numbers.  Any help will be appreciated.

speedo and tach work off electric signal.
odometer and trip meter are driven by plastic gears, an electric signal does cause the main shaft/gear cog to turn and that may have been damaged when numbers were replaced. link below, hi-jacked from liberry, shows various gear trains used.
reckon you'll have to disassemble instrument cluster and check wires/pin connectors and gear assembly.
tedious but after you've done it a few times it's like changing a light bulb!

If it was rebuilt, whoever rebuilt it should fix this. I would assume they put the new gears in, or at least should have if they were either seemingly worn or soft. It's not too hard to replace them though.

Do you know of an "WWW Link" or You Tube Video on how to remove the Instrument Cluster from a 1994 K75?

Not much to it but no doubt varies by model.  I can only speak for a 1990 K75RT.  What year and model do you have?

I have the 1994 K75 basic version; no abs; no fairing; mine is red;  it is identical to the photo on the specs page for this web site.

Removing them is pretty easy if there isn't a fairing. Remove the headlight bucket/assembly. Remove the cover for the wires (1 screw) and unplug the unit. There should be 4 bolts/screws holding the gauges on. That's all there is to it.
