That weekend I would "typically" be nearby - camping at 8,000', 11 miles due west of Big Pine and hanging with a core group of High School hooligans reliving the "old days".
Beware it is also the weekend of the Eastern Sierra Trout Season Opener (another reason I would be in Big Pine) and there will be hordes of drunken fishermen travelling 395 from Thursday through Monday (DAMHIK).
No snowpack means no skiers headed to Mammoth this year but there are also the mountain bikers that inhabit the area.
And this is also (usually) the same weekend as the Laughlin River Run, so there will be plenty of Garage Queens and Poseurs littering 395 from top to bottom as well.
