« on: May 14, 2013, 12:10:05 AM »
I'll be taking a long road trip in early August on the Beemer.

http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,4222.msg25728.html#msg25728

Here's my list of things I want to do before I go:

Radiator flush (have system flush - Prestone)
New coolant (need BMW coolant, #82141467704)
Possible new thermostat (need)
Oil change (have)
tires (have)
Diff oil swap (need 1qt of Royal Purple)
New fuel lines (need)
Plugs (have NGK's)
Wires(need)
O2 sensor (have - OEM)
Brake pads - front & rear (need)
fix brake lever?
Flush brake lines (Dot 4 oil, need)
Grease all Zurich's: center stand, steering

Is there anything I am forgetting?
Cheers!

Don't forget the Zurich in Switzerland. Might want to grease your Zerks, too while you have the grease gun out. :yes

On the more helpful side....Fuel filter? Air filter?

I have a new fuel filter.  Thanks for the reminder.  For the air, just an air gun unless its really bad.
Cheers!

No intention of turning this into an oil thread, but when I filled my transmission with Royal Purple 75w90 it shifted like stirring a bucket of gravel. Dumped it out after a couple days and replaced it with Mobil1 75w140, and things improved dramatically.

You might also want to look at your manual and see what is included in the level 1 and level 2 services.  At least it would help to not forget or miss something that could be important.

It should not be a substitute for first hand information about your specific bike, however.  In other words, if it does not indicate a fuel filter, for example, but you know yours is old, or your tank has bits of crap in the bottom (you just never run it down that far, generally), go ahead and replace the filter.  You get the picture.

No, I am not cool.  Yes, it really is the journey.
