I had the same findings on the inside clutch housing. Retrospectively, I know it's only the O ring that was leaking and not the RMS. Don from BMWMOA advised that I leave it alone and I should have listened because replacing the RMS took 3 tries ($37 each) and one very expensive ($90) block of BMW plastic to get the lip right.
But I can totally understand the urge to change the seals, because that's exactly what I did.
