Did you remove the transmission from engine?? I would to check the clutch, etc.

It looks like you may not have even pulled the drive shaft out. (Easy grab-n-tug on the K75)

Don't miss the opportunity to lube all the splines before you put it back together.

Pressure washing the top of the transmission likely allowed water into the transmission through the black relief valve on top.

Didn't separate the engine and trans. Clutch feels pretty good as it is. Sometime this summer i actually have to source a replacement engine because this one may actually be going down. cylinders 3 and 4 are rather oily.

Driveshaft didnt want to budge, and since theres no internet over at the shop I always forgot to check the removal procedure when i got home. Swing arm isnt bolted in tight yet so i can still do that. i havent purchased the recommended spline lube yet and thats why the final drive unit isnt on yet either.

Crank breather and trans breather were taped up when i pressure washed everything, but fluids will be changed before the bike is ridden just to be safe.

wow its been forever since I did anything with his bike.

bike is currently stuffed against the wall surrounded by power tools

sanded the airbox

primed it

painted it

went to put on one more coat, grabbed the wrong can

got pissed and went to put it away, smacked it into something else on the shelf and jacked the paint

bitched up a storm, stormed out of the shop to go home, saw this white shit flying around outside. decided I didn't want to be outside. immediattly hid in the shop.

decided to switch projects for the day. went to cut some wood and the table saw tried to kill me

im currently posting this from the shop closet. im to scared to touch anything currently. please send food.

picked up some 1/4 panel sections today:

The JY lists quarter panels as being $39.99 each. I cut up two of them, this is what i was actually charged after saying "parts of 2 fenders"

took a whack at it with the cutting wheel, need to trim it back to the line still. mocked up the final drive and tire to get a better idea how it looks.

So today i decided to go get the new battery for the bike. I still had the bad battery from the contour laying around and figured id take it back to interstate, see what they say about it, and use what ever prorating i get towards the K's battery.

The woman seamed to be having a bad day, and since i was asking for a bit of a favor, i was trying to be extra nice and extra understanding. She explained the warranty / prorating system and asked if i needed the new battery today. "No i dont, the bike is still apart, but it would be nice because I hardly ever make it down to hamburg from Cheektowaga"

She started testing the old one, found it only had 4v, went to put it on charge for a while ..... and i wandered off to have a smoke, figuring i would have to come back another time to get the new one

Half was through my cig she walks out with this, says its an even trade, and asks if thats OK. Uh let me think, ...i figured id get like $75 credit for my old one cause its 2 years old (by mfg date) and your handing me a battery thats like $126 online as an even trade...

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY ZERO DOLLARS!

This is what I've settled on for the rear frame hoop rake. This will bring the top of the frame up to the top of the rear splash guard(not shown).  Prob make the required cuts this weekend.

WHACK!

cut of the transverse brace, the seat lock, and both sides of the shock mount.
Checked the angle of the original frame (5* at its current spot)
Reset my gauge for 13* total
cut the frame, bent them up, and threw a tack weld on.
Double checked they are parrallel
Cut off the rear section of the hoop
Started plotting how i want to trim the wheel well

Pushed it to the open space in the shop and played with putting it on the center stand w/o using the handle on the frame. Yea that can be cut off too. If i muck the paint on the frame after multiple times of using it as the handle fuck it, its a $7 paint job

started welding up the frame. Reshaped the old shock mount to fit again but theres not enough clearance between the shock end and the frame, so ill be making new mount plates to get a proper gap again. thats the inner plate shown, but i put it on the outside because its not nearly as ugly.

and for the sake of reminding everyone, this is the original outer. Barf.

Well, project is on hold for a damn long time at this point. Got myself into some trouble back in may, and in the matter of 24 hours wound up unemployed, without a vehical, without a license ... And then also ditched about 2/3 of the people I knew from my life. (that last part isn't much of a loss)

At this point the K is sitting back in the side hallway at the shop, since it doesn't have a rear shock the swingarm mashed into the trans when they moved it, and then when then got it back there they jammed a mountian bike against it ... So at this point the swingarm, trans, valve cover, frame and left fork need a repaint, and there may be a dent in the tank too .... (only one ever)

So one day, probably over a year from now, ill be pulling it all back apart, resanding and repainting everything, and hopefully the swingarm pivot area isn't screwed up, cause those bolts aren't in all the way...

Oh, and there's shit piled on my painted parts in the storage room too....

Got the brick, most of its parts, my tool box, my welder and my clothes from the shop. Gotta go back for the rest of my stuff at some point..... And i still fully expect to have to frame swap the bike to wind up with a title for it this decade because I doubt my brother will ever bother to retrive the title for me...

Turns out the $400 set of wheels from my car are gone from the shop, my leatherman is mia (birthday present from mom) and my 18v dewalt drill is missing its batteries...

As for the brick project... Realized I have an Audi HID projector headlight that I can fab a housing for. Just need to find some 5" stainless tubing.

Found out today that despite my best efforts to ensure otherwise, cylinder 1 wound up water logged. I've gotten the bike wet once since I painted the block, so this is probably the result of the shop roof leaks or someone getting the bike wet while washing something else.

Cylinder 4 is already burning oil, cylinder 3 burns a tiny bit also...so now this engine is officially scrap metal.

Far pipe is 220 grit wet/dry over the orginal crap.
Middle is 120 grit flap wheel in a drill cleaned up w/ 220 grit
Near pipe is 120 / 220 / 400

And a pic of it marking its territory. Guessing this is from the water that got into cylinder 1 raising the oil level to the point it found someplace to leak from.

Maybe I missed it in your pix ... I put a bracing tube in across the frame from the point where the top shock mount is, to the other side, and another at the rear where the the original seat loop was cut off. Actually I used a plate at the rear as it doubles as the mount for my ex.Police single seat base.
