Ok here it is.
I thought I had a problem after replacing the sprague starter clutch. I put the pressure plate, alternator, etc back in.
My concern was that turning the engine with a wrench was at least 10 times more difficult after putting in the new starter clutch. Before I could turn it with my hands.
Today I pulled the alternator. I can turn the engine with a wrench and socket, just it's really stiff and I can only turn it counter clockwise.
I'm only be able to turn the engine by hand in one direction, but that makes sense to me as with the new starter clutch installed, it should only turn one way.
If I happened to over tighten the retaining bolt for the clutch will this be an issue???
I have been using all hand tools. I can see the alternator drive dog turn counter clockwise as I turn the engine counter clockwise.... so far that makes sense to me.
Can anyone offer suggestions?
