I just knew the bright sun and blue sky this morning would be a good omen
I think I've found the problem. The no. 1 blade fuse was open. I replaced it and the bike jumped to life immediately upon my hitting the starter button. Going back over my recent work on the bike, I think I know what cause the fuse to blow. I recently installed heated grips. Wanting to incorporate the OEM switch with the Symtech (?) heaters, I wired into the no. 1 fuse so I wouldn't inadvertently kill the battery if I forgot to turn off the grip heaters when I stopped the bike. The no. 1 fuse is 7.5. I don't think that is up to the challenges of the heated grip circuit, so I have now installed a 10 A. fuse in its place. I tested the heated grips while the bike was idling and the circuit held, however, I'm not sure if I had the switch on low or high. Until I run it a while on both positions, I guess it's impossible to know for certain. :hmm:
With this sun-drenched afternoon unfolding, I'm planning to do just that.
