Help! K100rs headight bulb plunges in out?why?burned out?
« on: October 28, 2020, 09:58:16 PM »
Ok new k100rs owner.p.o said he installed a new (super) headlight... ok got the bike headlight not working. Pulled plug out of housing when switching hi/ lo beam it pulls the bulb in and out? What? Filament seems cloudy ash grey...first is this a special bulb? Second i have no idea if its burned out. Bike was laid down but no evidence of wire damages etc...

Some photos would be helpful to fill out your description, Blue, and to identify the bulb type and printing on the bulb's body.

If the bulb is high power halogen, it will draw greater current through the handlebar switches.  That extra current could heat up the switches which will melt and fail.  Recommend to
- examine the bulb electrical characteristics to see if it draws more than 55W
- examine the switches for heat damage and repair
- seriously consider an Eastern Beaver headlight relay kit

That sounds like the HID set I had in the F150 with single bulbs for hi/lo.
The HID bulb moved in and out with a magnet to give hi/lo.
Didn't work very well since the headlights were not designed for HID.
I put a HID set on the K12LT and it works pretty well since it is a two light setup.
The 525i has factory Active Xenon headlights and moves the lens to give hi/lo (and follow the steering wheel).
