k100 or k1100???

hello guys,
I'm Manos, new here and i would like to make some questions about k100.
First of all i would like to buy a k100 bike and custom it by myself to something like caferacer, but i want to have on it spoked wheels, I'm trying to find if i could fit from
another bike the spoked wheels, but i saw that i have to change gear and shaft(drive) all the kit take it from k1100 so to do this(so modify the rear k100 to k1100):
 

I'm thinking that will cost a lot of money a modify like this to the k100, so I'm saying why not to buy a k1100 so to avoid all this modification.
What are you suggesting me to do? buy k100 or k1100 (in Greece k100 costs about 2-2.5k euros and k1100 about 3-3.5k euros)? with which bike will be easier and cheaper to do this?

look... if you really wanna custom it by yourself... you gotts to score a pristine k1... and commence to chopping... butts keep all the pieces so the new owner can uncustom it by himself...

thanks for the advice, i havent check k1 but as i saw now its double money to buy it so its not worth.. i will go to k1100 so no need to do many modifications and is newer than k100..

you are missing the point... the bmw k1 is the only bmw worthy of chopping up... 

anybody can chop up a k1100... butts the k1 takes a little more character and determination...

hehehe... i dont missing the point, just looking the numbers... im not an expert so why to do go so deep? im thinking a k1100 with around 3k euros so to easier to spend money to the customizing.. in the end will look almost the same.. so why to give more?? ;)

K1 Motobricks are really rare compared to the run of the mill K100 and K1100,models.  Sooner or later you will want to get rid of your unique creation, and the fact that it once was a scarce K1 will cop you some extra bucks when you do.

Just think of how much fun it will be to chop up such a rare bike.  Especially when you post a blow by blow here at the world famous motobrick.

i understand... you only have 3k euros of character and determination...

whatever you getts just remember its not a true custom unless it has a custom radiator... no caferacer pilot wants to be seen with a factory radiator..

and just think about it for a minute... you would have in your mind the rare k1 pieces in pristine condition... nobody would know that butts you... thats some powerful intell there...

you can show your girlfriends the title where it says bmw k1... not some also ran generic brick...

Just think how creative it is to hack up an $8000 motobrick to avoid spending $12 on a couple rattle cans of yellow paint.

As stated above, the K1 is the only suitable bike to café custom. The wire wheel conversion should be easy, and with a custom Yugo or Skoda radiator and the ORIGINAL yellow 3-spoke wheel up front, you my dear friend will be one Badass Borat! Verry Nice ;)

Are going to build this cafe racer to ride, or for cool photos in front of graffiti covered dumpsters? 

If you plan to actually ride it to the urban locations where you want to take photos, be aware that the removal of the rear frame loop, which is an important part of every cafe/scrambler conversion, results in many electrical and running problems.  This is the reason that even though there are thousands of cafe conversions done on motobricks you are more likely to see someone riding a unicorn than a motobrick cafe racer.

If you doubt me, just check all the requests for help at forums like motobrick.com to get motobrick cafe conversions running.

@The Mighty Gryphon i plan it for riding eveywhere, inside the city everyday and for the urban excursions, so i dont want to have any problem thats why im asking.. (im not going to cut everything the seat is gonna be for 2 persons, if that helps.)

If you plan on riding a lot, I would strongly suggest that you keep it stock.  It might look boring to you, but over time you'll grow to appreciate that the Motobrick is a very reliable and comfortable machine in all it's boring glory.

Unfortunately the majority of café, scrambler conversions end up not being ridden after the novelty has worn off. The conversions tend to make them impractical over anything  greater than a short distance, plank seat and no place for luggage.  The reliability also seems to suffer this seems mostly electrical due to switch, light and instrument modifications.

At one stage in OZ Bricks for sale were running at more café, scramblers for sale as against standard bikes. My mates and I have bought various bits and pieces off guys doing these conversions, and listened to the big plans of the modifications intended of which most don't eventuate. Most end up for sale before being completed as interest dwindles, or being stuck in a shed or under a tarp behind the shed.

A few months ago I saw my first and only café Brick on the road at the starting point of a Brick ride. One of our guys invited him to join the ride, he declined staying it wasn't reliable enough. He has since put it up for sale. The same group of Bricks has just completed a 1200 Km plus ride in 2.5 days in 40 C plus heat without a hiccup.

i understand what you mean and thank you.. i dont want to do an uncomfortable brick.. i want a 2seat brick for riding with my girl and love to watch it in my garage.. i dont have big plans thats why i will fix it alone.. i will not cut everything i will not change everything just some main things.. it will be nice and simple.. i dont do so many many kilometers.. normal things.. sundays and some good days in the easter for work.. i also travel with my work so totally 3-4 months a year will be not moved.. so the kilometers will be ok.. i want to be beatiful first, thats my purpose of buying it and custom it, to be nice into my eyes.. thanks for the advice by the way, and i agree with you! but i want to do it.! i also like it as it is, but i want to do something more.. just for me.. thank you a lot again..

Hi vidiasm,  welcome.

Maybe leave it stock a little while.

When I got my brick I thought the first thing I will do is pull the ugly fairing off. On second thoughts I chose to leave it on a few months for comparisons sake. Maybe it's because I was impressed after reading its vital statistics,  that I've grown to love it now,  even the panels.

The brick is already yooneek in so many ways,  someone should start a thread to list the unique things about it

Get a K1100 then start a thread in the Custom Motobrick section. Interested members will follow along with what you're doing, if they can figure out how to navigate to that section.

To some members here, K motos as a group represent the Parthenon of motos. Every time somebody wants to alter one, it's like a tourist visiting the Acropolis to steal a piece of the temple for use as a paperweight back in Liverpool or Miami where finally one of the children throws it through a window into the backyard then the dog buries it.

johnny you know that you should measure the pressure inside the cylinder so to know if the pressure is ok.. and also check the valves with filler to see if they are also in the limits.. thats something that we do also in the marine engines and its not a big deal.. here the engine is much more smaller so i dont know what tools i need and what i have to do to check everything..  thanks a lot laitch
