K75 not starting...something to do with the fuel pump
« on: January 23, 2019, 09:08:30 PM »
Hi, I took my tank off, it sat for a while and no the fuel pump doesn’t whir when I hit the starter. I pulled the pump, hooked it to a battery and nothing. Got a new fuel pump, installed it, still nothing. When I put a test light on the terminals of the pump there are a couple seconds of power, but the pump isn’t turning. The 4 pin connector shows power when hitting the start button and I can hear a relay click off after a couple seconds once I release the start button.  What should I be checking next? All the lights work, starter works, and I’ve cleaned the brushes on the starter.
Thanks

Nevermind :) apparently after pulling, testing, cleaning and retesting  and retesting and then cleaning and using a tiny screwdriver to tighten the female ends of the connector, and then reconnecting and wiggling...I needed to wiggle the connector one more time. Fired right up😂[/img]

I encourage you to replace that four-pin connector altogether before another failure stalls you in fast-moving traffic or somewhere that you'd rather not be.

As per Laitch replace it preferably with a waterproof one.

I would echo that advice.  If you do decide to replace the connector, choose a waterproof AMP SuperSeal 4-way connector or similar.  These are available on The Bay for very cheap.  Search "4 way 1.5mm waterproof electrical connector".
