Mirrors!!
« on: May 11, 2018, 11:05:39 PM »
Where can I get some mirrors that I can actually use to look behind me?  My 75S mirrors suck!!  They're not wide enough.  LOL

Or could it be that the rider is not narrow enough?   :dunno

Hi just saw you're 75 on your other page. Very nice. The semi naked 75 has stem mirrors which are narrow. You could try Bar end Mirrors which would bring them out a tad.

Some folks luv their Lolly-pops, others like Johnny recommend Ken Sean mirrors. I put the short-stem Ken Sean on a Marrakesh K75s and like the new look and the rear-view improved greatly. The standard mirrors are 8mm where the Ken Sean is 10mm, so you will need to tap the mounting holes for 10mm or make an adapter out of a connector nut - see hardware dept. at Home Depot. I like the result but it's personal preference. Will post a photo. :2thumbup:

I thought about bar ends but I think it would look too cafe-ish which I'm not interested at all...

I fitted auxiliary small bar end mirrors sourced from the local bicycle shop. With them fitted, it has eliminated all the previous blind spots.

Yours are OEM short-stem. The OEM long stems give good coverage. The Ken Sean model discussed here is pretty good, too, and its angularity is fashionably compatible.

Here are some photos of results.  Making the mirror pedestal is optional, you can also tap the handlebar mount directly.  The pedestal allows me to re-install the Lolly-pops if desired. May add the blindspot fisheyes next.   Does that help?   :popcorm

What did you do?  Install an 8mm stud and then an 8mm to 10mm bushing?

I used conventional hardware available from Home Depot, a 5/16 stainless bolt, a 5/16 connector nut.  Re-drill and tap the other connector nut end to 10mm X 1.5mm.  Check the thread pitch of your Ken Sean mirrors, they are 1.25 or 1.5mm I forget which.  Those of you with metric size hardware available can go all metric.

Agree!!  If you go this route get the Ken Seans or better, there are very cheap Asian knock-offs out there that are junk (I know I bought some).   :dunno2:

Really nice!!!  The shape repeats the lines of the headlight much better than the lollipop version.  It's a little thing, but makes a difference.

I think a pair of those guys is going on my brick.

I bought only one in 1975, drove it ever since.  It's a restoration project now, mechanically solid but the Utah salt eats cars!
