I think I figured out my crappy mileage.....
« on: October 14, 2017, 05:52:47 PM »
it just kept getting worse :dunno ,  these were shot a couple days and a full tank of gas apart, I suspected the odo might be getting flakey this pretty much confirms it.  Anyone got an old cluster with good gears really cheap, like for postage :hehehe

New gears are available, the OEM ones are actually made out of cheese or tofu.I had mine disintegrate at 140,000 Ks. It's not hard to do them just be gentle.

I was told by an instrument restorer in Brisbane not to lubricate the gears. Apparently the lube can react with the gears turning them into cheese, tofu.

Here's an article that suggests your problem with the odometer might be with the pins of its electrical connector instead of its gears.

By the sounds of it, looks like you've replaced them before....however, If it comes down to replacing the gears...it's actually not too much a daunting task...I did it, you can too.....True, I've been told NO LUBE on the replacement gears...run them dry.
