Leak from Front Brake Reservoir
« on: June 08, 2017, 08:13:37 PM »
I've got a leak from my front brake reservoir, that I discovered after opening it up and cleaning the neglect from the prior owner and filling it with new good Brake fluid.  The Leak has kind of escalated from a steady seap to a drop after a long while.  I was just searching for recommendations on how to remedy it, be it to take a part-part of it and apply a sealant or a rebuild kit, or what have you.  Thanks for any recommendation guys, I copied a picture on I found with a google search and circled where my leak is.

If the bore is not scored or pitted a rebuild kit is the go. However if the bore cannot be refinished with a light hone you have only a few alternatives. A new master cylinder, a good second hand one, or getting your master cylinder sleeved. I have just found a local guy who sleeves cylinders makes a new piston tests and guarantees the job. He charges $200.00 Au and the next time you require cups it's $10.00 Au he will ship but with freight it might be better for you to find a local guy.

I've experienced the same thing, I haven't identified where the leak is coming from. I thought I may have overfilled the it.

Either the seal on the lever end of the m/cylinder piston ( pert of the overhaul kit) or the O ring between the reservoir and cylinder.
This latter was not included in the kit I recently fitted.
