I would like to first thank JO back on April the 19th I posted that I was redoing my seat due to comfort problems. JO contacted me and offered to send me a package of Supracor.  When I inquired about the cost he didn't answer but asked about my weight.  On May 4th I received my package  of Supracor plus foam and two Motobrick shirts, thank you JO at no cost to me. JO the instructed me on how to go about installing the Supracor  and the type of glue needed.  I had replaced the base foam in preparation to doing my seat but now with the Supracor I decided to start from scratch so I redid it then I carefully cut out a slab and tried sitting the edge of the Supracor with a scrap bit of 1/4 foam in it and found out that I needed to cut it out more. As well as fitting the Supracor I was lowering the seat. As per Jo's advice I went as far forward and back as I could and cut out right to the edge on both sides. I then made up a cardboard pattern and cut down JO's 1/4" foam to fit the gap followed by the Supracor and another layer of foam to wrap over the edge. Once I was happy with the fit I glued it in place with the recommended spray adhesive. The whole seat was then covered in 1/4" foam. The next bit was to cover the seat in vinyl that I had previously bought. I had a bit of trouble finding stainless steel staples but eventually found them at Ray's Marine and Canvas in Caboolture one stick $5.00. After trying to wrangle the vinyl into place I gave up and called in a mate who used to be an upholsterer. This happened yesterday on the 23rd May and is where the comedy of errors started. Before I bought the stainless steel staples I had tried using my staple gun using standard staples into the seat pan on my bike it worked fine. My mate started to glue and stretch the vinyl but when he went to fire the gun into the pan with the stainless staples they would not penetrate fully. No worries there is a Super Cheap auto store up the road where I had seen a heavy duty gun. We went up to buy the gun and staples to fit it just in case. only to find they did not have short staples to suit the gun. Bought the gun anyway with the understanding that it could be returned if it was not satisfactory. It wasn't, it would not fire the staples into the seat base arrgghh. Returned the gun and decided to swap the hand gun for an pneumatic gun, only problem was they did not have staples for the pneumatic gun Arrrgghh. Got a refund and headed for Bunnings hardware to get a pneumatic gun, there I bought a cheap Ozito air stapler and the correct staples hallelujah. Got home opened up the stapler packaging and carry box, one slight problem. There was a slight lack of staple gun in the box ARRGGHH. Drive back to Bunnings and tell the girl on the door who had just seen us leave with the stapler, that the box was empty. She looked a bit suspicious, but I said if I was going to pull a scam I would have done it with a better brand than Ozito. She took us to the refund counter where they found a "D" marked in black marker which stands for display. Apparently the display box is meant to be put away in a drawer somewhere. Drive back home feeling guilty about having put my mate out over what he thought was a quick little job. Get back home and the new pneumatic gun works hoobloodyray. Another problem the surfaces as due to the fact it is now 1400 and we started at 1000 the mate has to be elsewhere and can't finish the job. Mate is coming back today to finish it off thank heavens for good mates. So hopefully unless world war three starts I'll be road testing this afternoon. An extreme thanks to JO who without his generosity this project would not have been possible. And a thank you to my mate Lyndon who did not even bat an eyelid over the whole stapler saga. Part two to come.

After Mondays fiasco I found that the Super 77 spray adhesive is good for gluing back clumps of hair torn out yesterday. Seat vinyl is 3/4 done and I am waiting for my mate to free up some time this week to finish it. Nearly there can't wait to go for a long ride this weekend.

Martin, that is an entertaining read (cheering you along much like us older TV viewers used to maintain hope that the fearless crew of the SS Minnow would make it off Giligans Island one day).

Mate had a family emergency and was going to finish my seat of tomorrow, but I'm unfortunately working tomorrow. So now the plan is to do it on Friday after the dump day meet up. I had an interesting visitor today at work, a green tree snake. I was out the back of work emptying a bin when one of the ladies in the back of the shop started screaming and calling out for me. She had come into the back room and saw what she thought was a rubber snake left by me as a joke. It didn't move until she got about 6" away then it got agitated hence the screaming. I rang head office and told them, and they were going to call a snake wrangler in. But a young guy from the shop next door came in, and he and I managed to get it into a pillow case. The snake was by now pretty cheesed off, so I took it down to the park gave it a ride on the swing and let it go. :dunno

Just got back from getting some Yeee HaaaaH. Our Dump Day meeting was adjourned early so my  mate could finish of my seat. After he left I went for a short nearly 2 hour ride. At first it did not seem much different to my old seat but as I started clocking up the K's at about the 30 min mark I noticed that it was getting slightly more comfortable. The more K's I clocked up the better it started to feel, I was going to stop at my halfway point and take a couple of pictures but I forgot all about that and kept on going. When I got home my bum was definitely not complaining. I have a feeling that after a bigger break in period I might be able to go tank to tank. I'm looking forward to doing a really big one. I'll post pictures of the new seat versus the old but not much difference visually all the changes are internal. Thanks again JO and I would definitely recommend them.
Regards Martin with a happy bum.  :2thumbup: :riding:

Loving the seat, this is a picture side on, looks great and works great. The brick is now fitted with an RTD to get full benefit from the seat. :2thumbup: :riding:

The new seat has a longer rider area. I shortened the pillion area due to the fact I no carry a pillion and reshaped the nose so I can move forward, and it gives me more room to move around. If the needs ever arises where I need to carry a pillion  I still have the old seat, although the range would be limited due to the lack of comfort. The new seat is also slightly lower and although I am in the 5"6'' to 5'7" range I can flat foot with bent knees. The lower seat is also a lot more confidence inspiring in a couple of slippery and gravel places that I have to ride. Heaps more Yeee Haaa. :riding:

A further bit of information if you look at the first lot of pictures you will see a rectangle with rounded corners marked on the pillion seat. My original intention was to make it into a solo seated bike. In Qld solo seated bikes get half price registration. I first went to the Motor Restation branch to see if I could get away with installing a small compartment with a vinyl covered lid in the rectangle, along with removing the rear pegs. They didn't want to commit to an answer, but gave me a number to ring for engineering. This guy was a lot more helpful and what I was trying to do was slightly outside what they specified. In that the seat area had to be reduced to 500mm and have no upholstery past that point so the seat could not be used. Due to the fact that  the seat now incorporated a tool box at the 500mm mark it could be argued that I had fulfilled the intention as to make it unable to carry a pillion. However it would be up to me to argue the point with any Police officer who pulled me over. Due to the fact that Highway Patrol officers have their sense of humour removed ( if they ever had one) I decided against going ahead with the plan. :dunno
