Hello from Billings, MT
« on: May 01, 2017, 04:04:31 PM »
Hello fellow travelers,
Have been registered a while but just now getting to an introduction. This is my first BMW and bought it in 2011 with 11,xxx on the clock. I think I may have lucked out and got one of the special edition models because it has this mysterious way of making me feel 16 when I climb on. I start to think of speed limit signs as just suggestions. Anyway, it allows me to have more fun than I probably deserve. If you find yourself up Montana way give me a shout and maybe we can get a few miles in.

Welcome, Pat! That's a fine-looking ride you've got there. How many miles have you put on it?

Welcome.

I had the pleasure of visiting Billings once on my way to Great Falls.  What beautiful country for riding and what views!

I am sure you have a great time on your good looking brick around there - lucky you.

My friend and I will be coming out to MT the first week of June from Connecticut.
My sources advise that the going to the Sun he does not open until June 18th.
We will do the Beartooth hw first as that opens sooner.
Any advice on the Montana roads would be great.

Hi Donmystic,
A bit hard to say what conditions you may find. Early June may still be iffy for those two roads in particular. All other riding should be outstanding. The Beartooth is at 11,000 feet and Going to the Sun is about 7000. They try to have the Beartooth open by Memorial Day, but Going to the Sun is a few weeks after that. I'll provide a few links below that may be helpful. Keep me posted on your travels if you get near Billings.
