K75RT ABS Front Brake Pipe

While attempting the replace my OEM rubber brake lines with Speigler SS lines, I sprung a leak in the rigid pipe that goes from the ABS modulator to the front brake line. Anyone know where I can find a replacement? Any advice on the install?

The hard lines are still available from BMW and are shockingly cheap for BMW parts at about $22 each.

One of the posters here, Filmcamera has reinstalled the ABS system on his brick.  Maybe he'll check in with some installation tips.  I'm pretty sure that you're going to have to do some fairing removal to get the job done.  Will be a good time to do some electrical connector maintenance while it's all accessible.  Might be some other jobs you want to do while all the tupperware is off.

You will have to take off all the tupperware and the tank for sure.


Is the rigid pipe itself leaking or is it one of the joins?  Which pipe?


I would carefully photograph everything before taking the old pipe out.  Since I was doing a reinstall I had no guide as to how everything went together and ittook a lot of research and some help from a member over on the k1100 og forum before I was able to sort it all out.


APart from that it is fairly easy, you might find some of the wiring loom is in the way a bit so some disconnecting there will help as well.


Lastly I would at least loosen the modulator the hose connects to, there isn't much 'give' in the pipe so undoing it can possibly cause you to thread the connection.


Good luck with it all, it is worth it for sure to have the ABS in my opinion.

34321457878 is the part number (near as I can tell).

I called the local dealership. They said it would have to be ordered from Germany. I'm not sure I can wait that long. I think I've found one on ebay that would get me back on the road a lot quicker:

The actual pipe is broken. I thought I had a good grip on the connector, but it turned in the crescent wrench and broke at the connector.

The pipes on my K100 were a little different but if it is the right part number I am sure it will work on your K75.

if you know how long the pipe is (it is listed in realoem.com)  you can go to almost any autoparts store and buy straight pipe with the proper euro fittings in close to that length.  it is simple to bend brake pipe to the shape it needs to be.  no ebay, no dealer, part in your hand today.

i would be shocked if the part from the dealer didn't arrive as a straight piece.  that is how they do all their car brake lines.  can't get them prebent anymore.

I believe I need part no. 3 on that diagram. There is no Length listed for it. Does that mean I should refer to the length above for part no.1, 430mm?

If you decide to use the option of getting a line at a local auto parts store you can pull all the tupperware and pull the old line out and take it with you to get the right length and fittings.

When you pull it out, pull a length of strong string through with it to help pull the new line through the same path as the old one.

Also, before you pull it out, disconnect it and let it drain, and then stick a wad of paper in the ends to prevent any drips.  Then give everything a good slosh of water to wash away any brake fluid you might have missed.

no...part one is a hose.

odd the length is not listed.  they usually are.

also note that when you click on the part number, it shows you what other bmw's use the same part.  basically all the early 90's k bikes that had abs.

just take it out and measure it like MG described.

Called 5 auto parts stores, 2 garages, and 3 hydraulics companies but I finally got my brake line. Going to install it tonight.


I've also replaced 2 of the 4 hoses with speiglers, 2 more to go!


This is the first time I've had to completely remove the fairing and had to do it on the side of the street. Here's to hoping for zero extra screws when I finish.

Ah yes, I remember those days, crawling around under my car on the street in front of my apartment and passers-by asking if they could take the seats.  :yes   Someday you will have a real enclosed garage to work in and you will fondly recall these days and be even more grateful for the shelter it provides.  In the meantime, just remember that working like you do now builds character or something...
