ABS troubleshooting K1100LT
« on: February 15, 2017, 07:00:07 PM »
Hy guys,

Everyone's been very helpful, so I'd like to thank you for that.  :2thumbup:

ABS on my 1992 K1100LT is not working. By the way, everything I read about the K1100 never EVER mentions 1992 K1100, only 1993 onwards... What's up with mine??? I think it was made in May 1992...  :dunno

I'm trying to troubleshoot it using this guide:  http://www.largiader.com/abs/absfault.html

So I get to the point where I'm trying to read the fault with a led light. I connect positive wire to the center pin, and I ground the other one. It's blinking after I turn ignition on.

What does this mean? The led turns on and off 5 times, and then turns on and stays on:

Thanks for any help

They are out there, zalle. I think you just had not looked in the right places. Here are two from the K1100LT/RS workshop manual available for downloading from the Technical Library here.

Strangely, after I did this test, I think ABS started working...

I had the ABS lights off, but I decided to test it while riding, so I hit the back brake at around 50kph, and the ABS worked...  :mbird

Not sure, but you may have had a low voltage error stored in the brain, and when you tried to read the code, you cleared it.   As long as it's working I wouldn't lose a minute of sleep over it.
