LT mirrors move when riding... Unusable

Hi guys, this is my first question:
I just bought a 1992 K1100LT, and I noticed that the mirrors don't stay where I put them. Vibration makes them move, and in 5min time I can only see my hands and tarmac. It's the actual mirror that moves, not the casing. What can I do about it? Any procedure?

What I have done to fix mine was:
1st. Get the mirror glass "popped" out of the housing--there are how-to's on this, check the stickies. DO NOT TRY TO PRY, THE PLASTIC BACKING WILL FLEX AND THE GLASS WILL BREAK.--btdt.

Remove the housing from the bike, wrap it a couple of times in a soft cotton towel. Then you are going to "slam" it hard-face down onto a good hard surface. This will dislodge the glass and it's plastic mounting bracket from the metal pivot ball that it is mounted to.

2nd. Once the glass is out you can get to the pivot point. I wrapped a couple of layers of black electrical tape around the ball and snapped the mirror glass back in. Mine have been holding just fine for 4+ years now.

IF you should happen to break the glass, a local auto glass shop should be able to cut you some generic mirror grade glass(use the plastic backing as the pattern). Then it is just attached with double stick tape.

At least on the right side... I put a couple layers of electrical tape, and put it back together. It's solid now.

 The left side is a bit broken on the inside... The plastic bit that holds the metal ball is cracked.
 
I'm trying to fix it.

Hi guys, just a quick update. I fixed the broken plastic bits, reinforced it, put some black tape around the metal ball, and put it back together.


It's perfect now.
