Old Rider, New Brick Head

Hi everyone, thanks for existing and letting me join. I'm new to owning a Brick...have admired them all my life, but wasted my youth on sports bikes, café racers and XS Yammys (which I still love), but I am now almost 50 so the sensible gene has finally kicked in and I've got myself a beautiful old 87 K100RT...all the bells and whistles, only 112000kms on the clock and every tragkorb, rack and hidey hole BM could possible fit on one bike.

I've always wanted to Café style a brick as I think that engine is too beautiful to be hidden under fairings...but, I am reluctant to strip my girl down and rather just enjoy her for what she is.

My only problem is that these models were Police bikes back in the day here, so there is a certain stigma attached to them, hence I just want to stream line her a bit...tragkorbs off and modify/change the big front fairing.

Any and all advice...even abuse...is welcomed, I have a lot to learn about these bikes and this seems like the place to do that.

Jack has slightly misrepresented the situation here today due to his inhalation of acetone fumes. :giggles There is sometimes a cost for insights here but it's only a psychological one, so a good credit rating or PayPal account is unnecessary.

Welcome to the knuthaus! 

There is nothing wrong with owning a vehicle that has a bit of a cop look.  Sometimes, the more you look like a cop, the easier it is to get through traffic.  Ask anyone who's pulled over to let a black Crown Vic get past in slow traffic, and then seen the punter at the wheel.

Now post those photos of your brick, you youngster!

Wecome to you. I can advice when it comes to abuse. I have driven my k75 for 150000 km now,  with little else but occasionally some fresh engine oil and new tires ones or twice a season. This winter though it will receive some care. Happy riding to you. (Fore your comfort I can enlighten you, the Norwegian police did not much appreciate the bike, do to lack of character in the force. I my self is in love, quality and stamina in all details.)
