Front Brake Handle Pressure
« on: October 29, 2016, 11:12:20 AM »
hey guys. i did some mods to my bike. i can't recall, when I depress the front brake handle, does it move all the way into the grip (like the clutch). I remember it doing that but now it only depresses a small amount. Still brakes but it has no play. Is it as simple as adjusting the tension or is this a fluid issue? I did remove the front hose to replace handlebars.  Thanks :bmwsmile

Did you install new pads and braided stainless brake lines?  Did you do a proper bleed of the system?  That will tighten up the action at the lever.  If the lever used to go to the handle before, it may have been a combination of old pads and a lot of air in the system.

If the brakes are stopping the bike properly and the wheel spins freely when they aren't being applied, I would say you have done well and are good to go.

Brake lever should never come in all the way to the grip.

Brake handle should not move much.  Sounds like it is working as designed now!

+1

If the wheel spins free w/ no brake, but the brakes grab at application, you're where you should be.
