Slight Starting issue on inclined driveway

Rode nearly 800 miles this past weekend throughout GA, TN, SC, & NC   :clap:   :riding:

Two issues came up:

1)  Returned to home town and went to friend's house with a 20 degree inclined driveway and parked my moto there on her sidestand with the rear of bike toward the street (and in gear of course!).  Upon leaving his house after 15 minutes, I backed my moto down to the level street and it took me almost 7 cranks to get her started.  :dunno  Never experienced that before with any of my K bikes.   :dunno2:  Any theories?

2)  For the life of me, I cannot seem to figure out the correct sequence or technique to remove and install the tragkorbs.  The unlocking and lifting the locking mechanism is straightforward, but the actual removal of the case is mind-numbing!  I just wiggle, jiggle as frustration builds for 5 to 10 minutes and presto, they're off!  No rhyme or reason as to how they came off!  There's gotta be a better way!

1. If it smoked plenty when you started it, excess oil in cylinder three probably slowed the starting until it was cleared. If your fuel tank was almost empty, that would not have made starting difficult.
2. The better way is to be patient and analyze how they dismount. They take a little jogging but when you understand where to jog they release fairly easily. The process is not nearly as difficult to learn as feeding yourself with a spoon using your feet when you're armless.

2) Patience is one of my virtues but these side cases definitely push me.  Call me Venus de Milo for now, but any assistance about the sequence would be appreciated.

Well, Venus, it looks like you're in period of Karmic debt repayment. It seems to be at a low level so apparently you've been mindful. Learning the secret of sidecase removal is a right of passage. All will be revealed in the fullness of time—through persistence.  :oldguy:

I wouldn't worry about the starting thing if it cleared up, might have just been in a bad mood.  I'm with you on the tragkorbs, after figuring out the technique back in 1986 I couldn't understand why others couldn't get their bags off.  Then about 3 years ago mine got cantankerous.  Absolutely refused to come off then after 10 minutes of pushing, lifting, sliding and cussing they suddenly fall off.  Makes no sense.

The process is not nearly as difficult to learn as feeding yourself with a spoon using your feet when you're armless.

Are you sure?   Unless you are talking about using your feet to eat spaghetti with a spoon.

Kinda late here, but I experienced "case removal yank-n-crank" as well when I first got my 75rt......on one side only....what?

**Disclaimer**  I must be the only one on the planet that owns this unknown-to-me brand of tail rack and it's mounting scenario....so this may not apply, but maybe there's some sort of "spacing" issue between frame and Z Bracket that's affecting your installation of your bags.....
 
I have a Non-Stock tail cowl top box rack that shares a mounting point with the Z bracket and after removing the rear fender-license plate plastic thing, and  taking a good long look, I found  the top mounting point of the Z-bracket,  for the bag I was having difficulty with, had been  reassembled differently than the other side..the other side coming on and off smoothly......i.e., the  P.O. had at one time taken the Z brackets off, and upon re installation, had positioned the Z bracket on the "inside" of the bracket to rack to frame mounting relationship.   Kinda hard to explain, and I dont have a pic, but by moving the Z bracket's top mount to the "outside" of that stack - ---from the outside-in would be: bolt, washer, Z bracket, rack mount, frame ....it allowed the Z bracket it's proper spacing and the upper tab of the bag would now fit with out the fiddling.

By being on the "inside" of the rack mount/Z bracket sandwich, the problem was it was pinching the bag mounts tab, me having real trouble working the bag on and off.  Take a look at yours.. you'll have to remove the rear plastic fender piece to observe and adjust, if necessary.

Maybe you have the same problem I had when I first tried... (And second time, and third and so on... [emoji15] ) After unlatching the lower latch you tilt the bag slightly and move it forward to lift it of... There is a little notch on the bracket to prevent the bag from moving to far forward.... However, when stuff gets older, it wears... Making it possible to move the bag OVER said notch. Once you pass the notch the bag will never come off. To check, the notch is positioned right below the indicator... And even then won't come off easy so how people manage to lose those bags has me puzzled [emoji6]
