Recommissioning/1st Start of K100LT

How do;

I'm getting my old K100 spruced up and fired up for the first time in 19ish years. I didn't even loose a great deal of skin from my knuckles in the process.

Wondered if anyone knew of anything in particular I should watch out for / replace / lube/ check before I do? Anything likely to go pop or bang? Or something quirky to these machines?

I've been over all the obvious;

Flushed her oot and replaced all the fluids;

Injectors have been whipped out and cleaned;

Plugs, filters etc.;

Re-torqued anything important.

And on.....

There's no fairing on it, or any extraneous gubbins at the moment.

Nothing?

Good stuff, I'll crack on. I'm hoping the stars are aligned in my favour.

If not, I may return seeking advice on picking engine fragments out of the walls.....

Lonely out there in the wilderness, Paul?

Take a look at this post. It contains a link to a K-bike overview and a link to the Technical Library index of diagnosis, troubleshooting and modification procedures.

Please consider updating your thread concerning your choke assembly problem. Followers of threads might benefit from learning the outcomes—good or not so good.

Nice to have such potential fun stored....for that long?!I guess you've fired it up by now and you seem to realise the potential for it to go crunch.I left mine for six odd years,before which I ran the fuel out.10 seconds of cranking and it was like yesterday.A friend stored a Norton for a few years and the Pistons aged...and went crunch before they could be annealed,I guess.Misserable.
I'm not quite as perceptive as Laitch so haven't got the choke reference sussed.
When I run mine out of hibernation I won't rev it beyond 3 k for a good ten minutes waiting for the Big Crunch.Its just my head playing with my mind but it's worked so far.
Have fun!If your a born again biker..watch out,there's even more idiots out there now.

Lonely? That's a peculiar inference, but no, I'm grand! In fact I wouldn't mind a bit of peace and quiet in the shed for my pre-launch checks. I think it's an 'abort' for tonight, anyway.

I shall certainly check that choke thread, I thought it had been concluded as 'Fine, but a little wobbly for my liking'.

The Dude; It was indeed a waste to leave it that long, unloved, I used to enjoy riding it albeit only for a few months. I had a ZX10 at the time and it took preference!

The frame needed a respray, I had it done in VHT BBQ/Stove paint which looks tres cool now, I think, but the rest of it was still in pretty good condition. Still, I performed a fairly thorough ground-up rebuild. But who knows what may lurk once I let it run for a while. I've got duplicate of the majority of components for this bike anyway, should something go pop. Being a belts and braces sort of chappie, I wanted check if there is some component or other particularly susceptible before I fired it up!
