Oil from clutch rubber boot

OK, the K75S has been sitting for two weeks and there is a gentel weep of oil from the little rubber boot covering the throwout bearing. I remember when installing the transmission that the boot did not look to healthy but got into the assembly and blew it off. Well, it is rearing it's ugly head and it is time to replace it.

This weekend a trip to the BMW stealer is in order to get a new boot and whatever else is worn out. Any suggestions?

Take lots of money.  I bought one last week.  $42 with tax.

$42 not the issue; issue is that I was so dumb to space it off in the rush to get the bike running. Not a big deal to replace just mad at myself for not remembering to do it while the transmission was out. Oh well, I guess practicing the rear wheel and clutch cable removal is not a bad thing #$$^$#$^^*#$%@##@!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!

The good news is that all you need to do to replace it is unhook the clutch cable to get the clutch arm out of the way.  It can be replaced with the wheel and swing arm in place.

The rear wheel off is just me wanting a clear work place, lazy what can I say? Anyway, the part is on order from BMW FtW due in Thursday; I know when they order parts, been dealing there to long. Oh well, will keeps me out of trouble until the first week in September when I go on a 3k run North.

I think you might want the wheel on.  On the side stand you'll get easier access to it.

Interesting! I took the boot off and it was in not in as bad of shape as I thought.

OK, new one is on the way so no issue, but where is the oil coming from? The outside of the boot had a light oil film but no so much that it could drip.

The second thought was the swing arm/drive shaft boot. It is bone dry! The bottom of the tranny is clean and dry as is the motor. One can see a little bit of a blowback smear from the clutch rod boot, on the swing arm, but it is a light film?!?!

The tranny oil level is bang on; using the original BMW shock spanner! So, there is no overfill situation. The only thing I can think of is that there is a very, very small hole in the boot.

Unless someone can think of something better, I will replace the boot and see what happens.

but where is the oil coming from?

Could be between the boot and the actuator arm, what I`ve done to cure this is:
Used some Permatex black RTV sealant, let it cure overnight and mounted the
boot/arm as one unit.

Good idea on the RTV! The oil is coming from the boot, I just could not see the place it seeped from. Will clean the area with MEK (that cuts just about anything), mount the boot/strap, put some RTV around the arm opening  and then mount the arm back on after the RTV cured overnight.

    If it doesn't come in to BMW of Ft. Worth, let me know.  I have one in my parts stash and plan to go home to El Paso for a few days and can bring it back.  E-mail (or private message) me by Sunday if you need the boot and I'll bring it with me.

I think you did misunderstand me a bit.
Clean both parts, apply a small amount of RTV at the contact area of the two parts.
Assemble these two parts together, and let them cure overnight.
Mount the parts as one unit, on the bike next day.

Thank you for the offer! The part is on order as you noted and is on the way as I write this. There is no rush to this since I have a heard backing this bike up and the original part might still be usable with IngeK's RTV solution - clean, dab of RTV on joined boot and plunger, dry overnight and then hope it seals.

I received the new boot from FtW BMW and installed it last Saturday. Today, after around 800 miles still not a drop from the clutch push rod area. It seems that the little metal ring around the plunger must have been worn out; the rubber is still perfect. So all in all, issue resolved; $42 and 20 minutes of work.
