Revs rise when bars turn right

Hi!

Beginner question, sorry in advance.

I have a '94 K1100LT. It's had shorter, less raked bars (Renthal lows) fitted - and when idling, the revs rise when the bars approach right-hand lock.

How should I go about isolating the issue? A search suggests I need to be fiddling with the adjuster in the attached photo, but so far this hasn't helped.

Any insight appreciated, again apologies for what might be a basic enquiry..

More than likely the cable is pulling the throttle open on right lock. With the change of bars you might have to reroute the cable so as not to pull the throttle open. Try getting someone to go lock to lock while you observe the throttle movement at the throttle bodies.

Thank you Martin. Much obliged. Just took the tank off and had a play as suggested. Plenty of (fairly blind) trial and error, fiddling and adjustment has got it to the point where the revs don't rise when I turn right..

Now, if I give it any throttle when on right lock, the revs don't drop off as they should when I roll off. I have to straighten the bars to return to idle speed.

Ok - far more pressing question (new to the site).. why is "c.heers" showing as queers..?!

I thought that was a weird typo for me to make but can't correct it..

Queers -- I'd reckon that's your device's autocorrect, not the site. Didn't happen for me just now on an iPad 2. Using an Android device perhaps? You might need to add 'Queers' to your autocorrect exclude list in your device's settings.

If you are still using the throttle cable from the LT with the new lower bars—that's unclear to me in your post—the bending of an LT's extra cable length to fit might be causing excessive friction within the cable housing. Installing a cable with the low-bar length should end your rev problem.

This isn't moto, but the thing with C.heers is definitely not device related and appears to be a function of the BB software used for motobrick.com. It happens on any device after the Post button is pushed. If there's an autocorrect exclusion list for the BB, maybe a mod should add the word c.heers to it -- it is used a lot by the non US users here.

If there is a movement in the States for some peculiar reason to adopt British colloquial speech, I'd like to see it abandon the word in question here and migrate toward toodle pip.
