Stuck Filler cap
« on: June 29, 2016, 09:06:37 PM »
I went to add a bit of oil to my K75 and the oil filler cap is stuck!  I am a big guy and put enough pressure on the cap to get it loose normally.  Is there a way to get the thing off without stripping the slot? The last owner was a muscle bound guy and he torqued it good.

I used to let my wife ride with me until she started slapping my helmet for riding to fast.  Now she has her own bike and takes great joy in zooming past me.  I think she just liked slapping me upside the helmet for the fun of it.

Ride it over to the seller's house, ask him to remove it and also ask him for his grip-strength exercise regimen. Alternatively, warm up the engine, squirt some penetrant around the cap, shut down the engine, tappity-tap lightly on the top of the cap with a small hammer, go make a spinach and tomato crêpe, return with a long-handled channel lock or adjustable wrench then do counterclockwise what comes naturally.

You can always buy another cover if things don't go your way. Be sure to request proof that the cap is removable on that one.

Thanks Laitch!

A dose of common sense, liquid wrench, Tappity Tap, animal crackers, BIG Channel Lock and I am in business.

This is my first oldie and she makes me a bit nervous when twisting things. :2thumbup:
