Clutch Arm Grease Fitting - Thx Martin for the idea!
« on: June 25, 2016, 06:26:22 PM »
To keep my self entertained until my clutch arm boot parts arrive, I drilled, tapped and installed a zerk fitting for my clutch arm...Martin had mentioned he did this to his, but after a lot of searching, I couldn't find a picture anywhere on this here web.  Hope this helps somebody else that wants to do this....SUPER EASY PEASY.....

What tap is used?

No tap is needed.  You drill the hole size specified for the fitting and tap it in with a hammer.  Super easy.

Good work. While you're at it, see if there are grease fittings on you center-stand. If not, you can add two more to your bike. The holes are already there for use with a needle-tipped grease fitting.

I did post it but didn't name it, it was in a couple of posts. Yours is a lot cleaner but location looks identical, good job. I actually tapped mine use the same tap as the grease nipple thread, either 5 mm or 6mm.
Sorry Martin.

I used a zerk that was in my nuts & bolts bin for over 30 years !!!   I used a 6mm x 1.0mm tap that was a 'bit' tight.... this zerk was from the stone age, and possibly SAE....but I used what I had and it works !!!!
