If your new gauge is the lower photo, the light left of the fuel light is the "choke on" light. They aren't connected on the later models, if yours is connected and working, it should light when you move the "choke' lever to one of the "on" positions. It's not needed by people who pay attention to the lever's position, and the higher revs when you pull in the clutch lever are a sure sign to close the "choke." Is the fuel light on but you have a full tank? Your problem is not clear to me.
