K1100 LT...40 psi front tire?
« on: May 30, 2016, 04:30:38 PM »
Anyone here ever bother to read one of the factory stickers on the left side frame under the side cover (K1100 LT) that reads: front tire 40 PSI, Rear 42 PSI...(among other things).         ?
40 PSI front????

The 42 rear I'm OK with and already use that PSI...but 40 front? Seems excessive......... Might it have to do with how much weight the K carries over the front wheel?           :dunno

What do the Motobrick Brain Trust have to say on this topic?

BTW, I use a Michelin PR 3 radial there. These bikes came with bias ply tires.

greetings beemrdon...

regardless of what the frame says... cause modern tiors are very much different than they were then... i go with the max pressure as stated on the sidewall of the tior...

example the metzger me880 is 44 front and 54 rear... thats right... its reinforced for weight... thats all we use 2 up...

i gotts some shinko podiums on there now... they say 42 front and 42 rear... thats what i gotts in them...

and the perelli angel gt... they say 2.5 bar front and 2.9 bar rear... so i gotts 36 in the front and 42 in the rear... as per my ti 2500 datamath...

so there you are... 3 sets of tiors for the same motobrick = 3 different mfr specs...
