Luggage sizes

My bike came with side tragkorbs but no top box . I was disappointed to find thet the tragkorbs did not have space for a helmet .
So I sought a top box and found one on Fleabay  All very nice and I now have full luggage,  but even that wont accommodate the Helmet either.
Wonder what BMW were thinking about?

The 35L top case fits my medium HJC full face helmet and my wife's at the same time. I think hers is an XS.

I often keep my helmet with the bike on one of the pegs and use a bicycle cable lock to lock it to the peg plate. Doesnt work well if raining though.

My previous XXL modular helmets fit in my tragkorb, but my Schuberth won't.  Had to position them just right but they did fit.  Don't care for a huge topbox so I carry my helmet now.

30 years ago when the cases were designed...helmets were not as big as they are today, if worn at all.  not a BMW engineering problem....

Emgo makes a very decent box that hold most helmets, I have one on my Ural and it has held up well.  You'll need some sort of rack to mount the base on.

I can fit my helmet in one of my tragkorbs but not the other they are the Type 3. But I put my helmet closed on my RH mirror and cable lock it to the fork. If you close it, it won't get wet when it rains. In high crime areas you can also attach an alarmed disc lock to the strap buckle.

On my 1100GS, one is a little larger, and will fit a helmet, even a Shuberth. But I hadn't tried to put those bags on the K100, though I don't see why they wouldn't mount. The K75 bags won't take the Shuberth. I use cable locks, cause the bags are already full of other stuff, and if I'm not hauling stuff, I don't ride with empty bags.So...........inquiring minds want to know, are 1985-1996 tragkorbs ( why do we use a French words for a German bag?), interchangeable for mounting on K75/100/1100? We should ask Laitch, he will know.

Well, since we have a perfectly proper word for "tragkorbs", I am requesting K Command to ban "tragkorbs" and require the proper term "Tragkorb" from now on!
BTW my FI BMW sidecar badged as a URAL as part of my disguise doesn't smoke at all, unlike the two Harleys here in the campground.

The decal under the seat and I think the manual just call them saddlebags, not side cases, not tragkorbs (which seems to be more of a bicycle term)

I think it has been pretty well established by now that they're called "tragkorbs" by the intelligentsia, although there are bound to be pockets of resistance—label manufacturers, for instance.

Oh, that's authoritative ,F14, an ENGLISH LANGUAGE LABEL!. Let's just call a Tragkorb a Tragkorb, and be done with the issue. The term "tragkorbs" is actually a British affectation from an attempt to out-snob the French.
