Hi,

I am new to this so feel a bit lost. I want to make my 87 k100 a naked bike and want to fit a URALbucket headlight with built in speedo using ears similar to r65 etc. can anyone advise whether these ears will fit. Also what would i have to do to the speedo to make it compatible. Any tips will be appreciate

Hi Johnny,

Thanks for that. It is Larry,s, The Beast, that i am trying to replicate to a certain extent, and thought it would be a bit cheeky to ask him. Also a bit difficult as i am in New Zealand. But u have it spot on. Those are the exact ears which look like R65, but i am not sure. Will investigate further. Cheers

I've contacted Larry before asking for tips on how to add an aftermarket speedo. He said he had plug and play kits for sale, but understandably didn't want to give advice. Oh well, I work with some pretty fart smellers i mean smart fellers and if we figure it out I'll let you know.

Dave,

I'm in the process of doing the research for converting a K75 to look similar to Larry's Beauty pictured above.  It means fitting a Ural headlight bucket to the K75 forks using Ural/BMW mounting ears.  It also means solving the speedo / tach problem since the instrument cluster will disappear.

There is another builder who has managed to fit an Acewell speedo unit to their K100 cafe bike.  The writeup of his experience is on the K100RT forum.  Also, searching that site for Acewell will bring up articles on how to adapt that particular device to the K100 electrics.

Good luck with your project.
