Please list whether your bike is a K75 or K100, afsralphs. It's helpful for the readers of your post if you list your bikes in your profile so they'll show up in each post like TrueAce and many other members have done.

The easiest way to see if a fuse is the problem is to look at the fuses in the box under the left side panel to see if one is blown. Like johnny's K1100 reference, on my K75 bike, the dash power socket is fuse 4. Ex-police bikes are special cases and may have a different layout.

Do you have a BMW Riders Manual or workshop manual for your bike?

If it gets too frustrating, you can always rewire the auxiliary direct to the battery using an inline fuse. Figuring out shit is part of K-bike fun! Keep us posted......

Fuse #4 on all models (but you never know when it's a former police model).

Thanks for all your suggestions - bike is a K 75 RT -  sorry forgot that in original post.Have checked all fuses including # 4. They are all good, even switched a different one in, just have no power to the plug and yes I tried it with the bike on.So may have to trace wire back, under the tank of course and just filled it up and or direct wire with in line fuse as suggested.Yes have owners manual and found on site wire schematic.

I could be wrong, but my RT has two auxiliary outlets.  One on the dash pad above and to the right of the 4 switches and a second located at the top of the ignition coil cover.  These are the Hella lighter outlest that take the special "lighter" plug.

Johnny - no not like your blue plug - it is like the Mighty Gryphon says it is by the coils - and I just have the one.

Photos should be submitted with questions like yours, asfralphs, and it's not too late to do that. It's a socket not working, right, instead of a malfunctioning plug? Have you tested its output with a meter or just with an accessory like a heated vest with a plug?

If it is the one on the coil cover, have you pulled the cover and checked the electrical connector on the back side of the outlet?  I know mine was disconnected when I bought the bike.
