Hi- new here, so pardon any faux pax. I know much of what I post will be offensive to the "purists", but after lurking for a while (and gleening a lot of great info) I felt compelled to ask a few questions. I'm building a severely stripped down severely rat K100, and have scavenged some parts from a wrecked FZR 600. I mounted the FZR's dual headlights on the brick, installed an Odyssee P680 battery, and some aftermarket turn signals (in order to get it street legal enough to get it out for a ride). After a couple of push starts, and repeated trickle charging, I came to the realisation that I was drawing more power than charging. Voltage reading at a high idle was around 11.8V. With some goofing around (unplugging one of the headlights) I was able to determine that it was the second headlight that was causing the excessive draw. With one headlight, the voltage comes back up to a reasonable ~13.5V.
My question here is do I need a high output alternator, relays of some sort, LEDs (instead of the halogen bulbs from the FZR)?
I've attached a couple of images- purists, please go easy on me ;-) PS: images don;t pass "security" checks, so later, I guess.
