Does anyone know which cars/trucks use the same oil filter as the K?

This year, it seems none of the major chains carries any of the oil filters listed in the Alternative Oil Filters list. As I mentioned, I've been using the Quaker State filter for years, but that's gone, as is the Fram. The big parts chains here (Partsource, Canadian Tire) don't carry any of the other filter brands listed, except they can order the Wix 51348 or Amsoil for significantly more than I used to pay for QS (the Fram would be close to the QS).

I'm still digging around for alternate suppliers, and I'm sure I'll come up with something that doesn't involve actually mail-ordering oil filters, but I was wondering if the reason this is happening is because the car models that used that filter are old enough that parts store aren't catering to those owners anymore? Also, knowing what cars/trucks used the same model filter might help me find a cheap local supplier, since I doubt that owners of early 90's Toyotas (or whatever make or model shares our filter) will want to pay much for filters either.

Ask for a cross reference to the AC Delco  PF53.  I am using the Carquest equivalent in my bricks right now.  Costs about $4. 

You will need a filter wrench as the PF53 is a bit smaller and has a different number of wrench flats.  The size is 74mm with 15 flats.

That is a very common filter for GM products.   Did you ask if they had a cross reference?   

Worse come to worst, you can buy them in quantity on eBay or Amazon.   Have you tried the outfits like AutoZone or Parts Plus?

We don't have either of those chains here. Partsource is our version (and Canadian Tire, but they're more a general-purpose-plus-auto store).

Yep, getting something from Glen at FS is the fallback, but it used to be $6-7 for Fram/QS at CT. I know everyone likes Glen, but to be honest I just find him expensive most of the time. Yes, I'm being a cheap bugger.

Really surprised Partsource doesn't carry the Fram 6063 or a similar-priced analogue, considering how many cars use a similar filter - I know it's used in the Dodge Neon.

Got a couple other places I can check still as well, so I'm not worried about it being impossible to find. I'll let you know if I find a place that still has the cheaper ones.

Went with the NAPA Gold 1348. Only a buck cheaper than Glen, but I was going by the NAPA place anyway.

Napa Gold 1348 and Wix 51348 are the same filter. (Wix makes the Napa filter)

Don't forget the Mobil 1 15-50...

If you buy a filter with any kind of label on it, be sure to clean it up real good before you install it.

Gas or brake cleaner takes it off in a hurry.

BTW, The Wix/NAPA filters require a different sized filter wrench than stock BMW as do many others.
I have three sizes for various filter brands.

My regular oil wrench worked fine on the NAPA (in fact, it was a better fit than the old QS filters, haha). The sticker also came off super-easy with no residue except a tiny bit at the corners. So those were nice.

I use the same filter for my 2005 Ford Focus, My John Deere LA130 lawn tractor and used it on my old 2000 R1100RT
