Just got my first K75, and stripped it down

Good afternoon everyone. I just though I'd share my story since I'm new to all of this. I just purchased a 1991 K75 RT with 50,000 on the clock. I knew I loved this bike, but the RT fairings quickly proved to be too much for me visually and on the scales. I've spent the last 3 weeks stripping it down and putting together a lighter setup for myself.  In reading several threads here I'd like to point out that I was able to slim this guy down and install new running lights, headlight, windscreen, signals, mirrors all for a total project cost of about $330 at this point. It can be done with a decent amount of quality without breaking the bank, thank god! I'm very satisfied with how everything's turned out. Cheers, happy riding all!

Is that a rifle windshield or a parabelum (on the RT fairing)?

I was afraid to open this thread fearing yet another K stripped down into a cafe fad disaster.  Not so!  Looks great!

Garrett's modification here is a perfect candidate for Martin's flared, bucket-bred fender extender, too.

Thank you all. Laitch- Below is a closeup, up the running lights. Just a simple $4 piece of angle aluminum from home depot, drilled 4 holes, and mounted to the two holes on the fork cross-bar.

Hey Garrett, Looks good. Too bad those fairings aren't "quick release".

Where'd you get the headlight?
Also, is it an H4?
Was there a temp and fuel gauge in your fairing to deal with?

I attempted to throw the radiator shroud back on but it looked very funky. Because of the wide RT version/radiator it hangs out each side way too far. So from the drivers point of view I was seeing the backside of a lot of ugly plastic. It could have been made to work though with a couple zip ties or something, but for the sake of aesthetics I eliminated it.

I had no gauges, fuel or otherwise, in any of the fairings to worry about. I don't think those come stock.

Garrett, was everything included except for the bulb plug? If so where did you get this missing part? Was everything else included (besides the bulb plug) that you needed to make it usable.

It came with just the 3 wires coming out the back of the assembly. I wired them up to the old bulb plug I had so it could just snap in.
