I am going thru the stickys info now.  in the "can you read" section.

Checking around tonite to see which parts I would need to do it. (the switch to standard  hydrobrakes)

My ABS on my 87 944 Porsche did save me from a dump truck one day (turned left in front of me at the last second), first time I ever used them, but I do take the shortcut around Thousand Hills State Park around the dam, to get to a friends house 8 miles south.  Otherwise, its 15 miles thru town on the blacktop.

I am a fairly conservative rider...being hit 3 times in my 20s, and older bones has slowed me down.  i justr don't fly like I used to.  I always wear an orange/reflective vest or coat.

At 59 I can read and follow instructions fairly well, I'm scared to death to appear stupid. Best to stay low and study up.
I the meantime my 87 K75C in 632 Rott kicks ass.
Hoping to find a nice smoked Slipstream Deflector and I'll cash in this Non-op for a Current and give Geico a call.
Just another bike in the stable and the newest I've ever had. Very impressive.

The starter just came back from powdercoating and still it's a no-start. Somebody said I should look in the Workshop but I don't understand what that means. Is that like Walmart or Tesco? Has anybody ever had starting problems like this?  By the way, I think the manual is wrong and based on my experience with MTD lawnmowers, I have decided that straight 30wt is the oil to go with. You should try it, too.

I have,just make sure you let all the drips drop off after dipping and clean off the commentator with a lint free cloth before you let electrons at it.
Have you topped up your spark plugs yet?A light grind will get you a couple thousand miles or more out of them.

What makes Motobrick work is people participating and contributing. Coming on and asking a question that's already been answered multiple times is not contributing. People should be making an effort to find out what's already been said about their question, learn about it for themselves, then add something new to what's already been said.

If you make an effort to find your answer and come up empty, then show your mates some evidence that you made an effort.

Thanks, kind of sums it up.  If experienced people do not reply, perhaps that is an answer in and of itself :bmwsmile.  It does no good to rant or get exasperated if you value this site/community.  Sometimes, we all need a little encouragement, insight, or a different perspective.   Maybe the "use the search button" icon ought to be available on this post reply screen :yes

oft I wonder how I diagnosed a clogged fuel filter and flaky speedometer many years before the interwebby thing.  Oh yeah, I took stuff apart and looked at it.  Is there a youtube video on how to search motobrick?

Now there is a good idea :hehehe.  The reality is that we are not all great mechanics or wizards w/computers despite what we tell ourselves :eek:.  When you come across the, "my sir, you have an uncanny knack for detecting the obvious". You can post the link to a search video OR the icon...

If I'm reading you correctly here, jack, you'll find the "use the search button" graphic if you click the [more] above the top left corner of the reply box.

But none of this really answers my question—if there was one—concerning the failure of powdercoating the starter to start my bike, which, incidentally, is making a strange noise, too, when I hinge back the seat—kind of like a combination of a singing whale and a Vita-Mix processing a wad of shop towel.
