BermudaBrick,
I think TimTyler has the best idea for you now. If you have some life left on your drive and drive shaft use it. I've made lots of calls and am finding that any kind of fix, other than finding some good used parts, is quite expensive. I've found someone in VA who can fix the pinion in the final drive but that come to close to $400 or more. Then a new drive shaft I believe is another $300 plus dollars. I haven't found anyone yet who will repair the drive shaft except for Bruno and he is not available for 6 months at least. I've been looking for used drives and drive shafts, and it still seems you will have to pay $150 to $200 at least for a serviceable drive and the same for a used drive shaft.
Right now I'm considering whether or not to fix mine. If I found someone who could give me a fair price on the bike as is I might do that as I've got another bike too. Apart from my drive problem the rest of the bike is strong, although not great cosmetically.
Good luck with yours.
