Metal on magnets normal?
« on: January 03, 2016, 07:44:06 AM »
Greetings Brickers!

First post... I changed the gear oil in my 88' K75S yesterday and found a bunch of metal sticking to the drain plug magnet (see pic).

Is this normal or should I be expecting a trip to fleabay soon to find more robust parts?

Thanks for any help! This website is amazing for a newbie like mysef...   :2thumbup:

Welcome.
That's normal for magnets, they're always doing that :hehehe especially in old bikes.
If it was shifting ok before you changed the oil and wasn't making noises that you didn't want to hear before that, move on. You should be skiing and sledding now that we've got a little snow and more coming tonight. Here's a little tip though—avoid the Zen Cafe unless you're wearing your Kevlar vest.

How about posting some photos of your bike in the Klassic K section, letting us know how long you've been riding it and its mileage?

Hello fellow Vermonter!

Thanks for the input. Silly question about magnets, but you got what I meant, ahyut... I just got the bike last summer and am finally getting around to all proper maintenance now that riding season is FINALLY over. Saw a few out on xmas day. :riding: Will be on my jackjumper shortly...

Haven't heard of the Zen Cafe, but duly noted. It in VT?

Also, can't find the Klassik K section, but would happily post my deets there. Long and short, had a 81' Suzuki 550 back in college in NH, just got license last summer and put 3k miles on a 88' K75S with about 51k on it. She goes... :k75s

The Zen is on lower Church St in downtown Burlington. Follow the shell casings. The Klassic K page is in the Welcome To Motobrick.Com section.
