My LT is a pain in...both arms

I can't be the only one who has this. Sore, tender arms, spreading about 6 inches on either side of the elbow.
The pain and tenderness can last for days. It's both arms but more on the throttle side :musicboohoo:.
Any way to relieve this condition?

That's how I ended up with "S" handlebars. The wrist angle on RT and C bars is an unnatural fit for me.

other than ape hangers there aints much you can do with lt bars on a lt... pretty sure s bars rs bars c bars and the like will experience restricted movement with the lt faring on there...

then it becomes a thing of seat ergos and master yoda...

i caint ride a lt around the block because of the bars... butts i can ride a rs or a s all day long day after day with no real pain...

You might try pivoting your handlebar downward some, Don. A small adjustment could have a significant affect on your comfort.

Well, the LT fairing will not accept any other bars that I know of. Because the bars need to be shaped like wheelbarrow handles in order to fit into the fairing. I'd like to buy a k1100 rs in the future but that isn't in my immediate future. Since buying the K, I've done a lot to it. One thing that I did about a year ago was to install a Corbin seat. It moved me higher and farther back from the position of the OEM "comfort" seat (whoever named that seat was a real joker). The bend on the bars has always bothered me. An unnatural wrist twist, as a lot of BMW bar bends were - ymmv.
I am going to try to tilt the bar downward a bit to see if that helps.
Otherwise, I love the bike for cold weather riding. The fairing is awesome. With the electric grips going and my electric vest, I can ride in any weather I want, traction not being an issue.

This is a real longshot but go to your local Pharmacy and get two of those neoprene forearm straps. Try them they might fix the problem, or they may not. But they are pretty cheap, and worth a try.

Just thought of another couple of things go to ebay and type in Zen spray, it's the best liniment spray I've ever used. Had it recommended by my masseuse when I had a frozen shoulder. I've got just about everybody I know using it. If all else fails you may want to try a masseuse or even a Physiotherapist. Hope you sort it out.

Had a hunt round on ebay vitaminkingstore (19780) will ship Zen to the US and Canada. I will say this again it is really good stuff .

When I reduced the lateral angle of my wrist, aligned my hand and forearm in the same plane as much as possible then adjusted my levers to conform to that plane, more ease of operation followed.

If you haven't visited Flander's site, you may find it helpful although just rotating your bars is likely to do the trick.

Martin's advice concerning massage therapy and topical treatment is spot on, but I would say massage therapy is a first resort. You don't want to keep aggravating minor injury in those areas.

Once you've modified the ergonomics, you'll stay in good shape.

I have that setup on a K1100LT, K100LT, and a K75T. It fits my stature and riding style well. It also fits my oversize tank on my K1100LT with no clearance issues.

Thanks to all who have replied so far. Lots of good ideas to try.  I am going to adjust to angle/height of the bars first. Then move on to other actions from there.

***W074, Do you have any pics of C bars on your LT? Love to see it.
Did you use just one pair of risers?
Do your heated grips still work with the C bars?
Do the bars hit the edge of the fairing on full turn?
This would also make a great tech article for everyone if you were willing.

That is my take although the RS is harder on my hips(old injury).Thought an LT would be the easier option now I am old but guess I am just the wrong build.

mw074, looks good...how do you start the k LT? Looks like the key is hidden from the pic you provided.  And...what dash pad did you use? K100?

Aren't k75 C bars the same as k100 standard bars?

I see that MAX has them now. Used ones are hard to find. They're listed under K75C not K100, at least on the microfiche list I was viewing.

I meant to say the K75 has the C bars with risers installed. Yup, K100 dash pad. It leaves room for a couple of handlebar Ram mounts. The key switch is in front of the dash pad, it just can't be seen in the angle that the pic was taken.

I pivoted the bars down about an inch and a half. It relieved the stress on my forearms not hanging so high. A seat that adds about another inch of foam also helped so I sit more above the bars.

Well, I have a couple. The 1st two pics are the seat that came on the bike, the last one is the 2nd seat I got from Drake a few years back. You can see in the pics that the 2nd one sets the passenger up and forward a bit more, which my wife doesn't care for that much, though she still likes it much better than my Corbin (on the red bike in the background)

Here's mine that I picked up from Mike (mw074) this fall. He said he has another if you're looking to get one. Great guy to buy stuff from and just talk about K's



It's interesting how Russell seats are all custom and made to order but I haven't heard of anyone that wasn't happy with a used one. Mike mentioned it happening once but from all the other feedback I've read people still love used ones (as I do).

They look a little goofy but they're sure comfy
