Gear Aid Seam Grip Repair Adhesive and Sealant
« on: December 04, 2015, 11:13:36 AM »
Anybody have success with the Seam Grip stuff on moto pants?

My 500 and 2000 denier Cordura pants have started leaking in the crotch when water pools on the Corbin Dual Canyon.

Wondering if I'll have better luck applying a sealant to the outside or inside of the pants.  :dunno

My cordura pants started to leak at the crotch at the sealing tape, not very pleasant, and my gloves were starting to leak.It was recommended that I use a product called Aqua Proof X08 by COI leisure ( a waterproofer and fabric protector for all canvas products stated on can )  and it worked really well no more leaks, would definitely use it again.Don't know if it is available in the US.

Yes, John. I should pack one for when it rains. I'm too short to use one all the time.

I'm surprised that Aqua Proof spray did the job, Martin, only because I would guess the spray would wear off quickly. Coating the whole pant bottom must be more effective than just the seam though.

Tim I did pretty well soak inside & out about three or more times, but it worked for about 2 years, and then passed on the pants to my son in law.Used a whole can on pants and gloves.I must ask son in law if he is still using them.

Tim update son in law has stopped using pants after 2 years, due to lack of motorcycle. He says they were still waterproof ,so not a bad innings.

Thanks, Martin!

I'll need to find something comparable in the States.
