ABS Works, light stays on

Ok, '92 K75s w/ABS

I've read and searched a ton on here and elsewhere and all the descriptions of ABS behavior are totally different than mine.

First, the ABS and BMU lights have nothing to do with eachother.  The BMU doesn't flash, but merely responds to bulbs out and goes out once both brakes are switched.

Once the bike is turned on (even before ignition), the ABS flashes along with the relay in the box and can be turned out for 10 minutes or so after toggling the ABS switch.

I have no ABS error codes from the connector (I recently had error 7 from the low battery and a wiring issue, but fixed the wiring and cleared the code and all is perfect now) and the ABS kicks in like it's supposed to (verified in wet parking lot and wet grass).

However, as soon as I start riding and get over that 2.5mph or whatever, the ABS light stops blinking and goes solid.  This goes against every description of behavior I've read.  Am I crazy? Is my bike crazy? What's going on?

Bought it to save from being parted out, hoping to sell it onto someone who's looking for it specifically.

Almost. I got excited because I had just cleaned the switch so I was hoping maybe I messed up and that was the issue.

But thinking about it, I still get the flashing on key on before moving (and actually get a flashing error if I stall and restart while rolling). Also, the switch works perfectly in diagnostic mode and turns the light off for a while, so it's definitely working, but doesn't do anything once the light goes solid.

Weird, right?

The way I read that post was that his switch worked in diagnostic mode, too.

You first may need to determine why your ABS and BMU lights aren't linked. In the 1994 manual it states they are linked and describes their behavior, so unless you can verify that 1992 light system was different, that would be my starting point.

Ooh, thanks for the link!  Lots of good info there.

It's weird, though, because all his info revolves around there being an error in the diagnostics, which mine doesn't have. And I know that functionality works, because I previously had one.

The important thing is that it works, but I'd love to be able to have it work "by the book".

Sold this bike years ago, but just got contacted on instagram by someone having questions about a different, but related issue, and realized I never followed up to this thread when I found the solution.

The full story is documented here:
http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,7450.msg52968.html

But long story short: The ABS *is* related to the BMU and the previous owner has disabled the BMU to put in LEDs. Once I fixed the BMU back to stock wiring, my ABS issues went away.

Hope this helps anyone else who stumbles across this thread!  This forum was a huge help in getting that bike back to the land of the living!
