Hello from Germany
« on: October 21, 2015, 04:28:42 AM »
Greetings, just picked up a German '90 K100RS 16V.  I rode a '89 K100 LT over the summer and liked it so much I had to get a brick for myself.

Here are the figures:
-80,000 kms (~52,000 miles)
-Repainted green and yellow in 1990, the paint is holding up pretty well for its age
-Previous owner is a big Flying Brick fan and owns two K1100 RS bikes, he's a popular forum contributore on flyingbrick.de.  His service history is organized in typical German perfection
-New clutch, re-lubed paralever pinions, new fluids/brakes all around, valve tappet caps were recently adjusted
-Stock bike except for the handlebars, which were upgraded to heated K1100RS bars

I put 900km on the bike over the first weekend and she rides great.  Big braking and power improvement over the '89 LT with less vibrations in the 3,500 RPM range.  The 16V torque 'flat spot' takes getting used to, but she's been great in all conditions.  It's pretty chilly in Germany now but that little fairing does 90% of the job that the LT did!

The paint will stay, I didn't buy a bike from 1990 to try to make it look like a 2015, so a paint job reminiscent of Cool Runnings is fine with me

Welcome,

A Jamaican brick could be in a class of one! That is certainly attention-grabbing.

Mobile.de is great, you can find K bikes there for a bargain in Germany.  This one is going with me back to Seattle next year, 25 years old and importable!
