I've been using foam 3M earplugs for a while and they suck. Very difficult to roll and properly get in my ear resulting in them coming out when I go to put my helmet on. I've wasted too much of my life trying to get them in.
I tried these reusable Earpro EP5 "Sonic Defenders Max" full block earplugs and they're awesome. They actually go in quickly and easily, stay in, and don't hurt. And they block noise better than the foam 3M plugs. They were like $9 at Menards. No problem with them fitting over my HJC helmet which has a Sena SM5 intercom system in it (and thus speakers in the ear cavities, or whatever you want to call it).
And they're made in the US
I googled and found this pic:

The lanyard is optional/removable. I don't use it
I'd definitely recommend them. I have a full face helmet and ride a rather quiet K75 with a full fairing but I don't want to end up half-deaf like my dad did. His 20+ years with open face helmets on airheads probably didn't help
